Tips for your application

How do I correctly apply for a job? What do I have to consider? What are the next steps? Here you can find out everything you need to know for your successful job application.

  • How the application process works

In an Internet company, of course, all job applications are sent online: You can apply directly to a specific job advertisement or send an unsolicited job application. It only takes a few minutes, and you will receive a confirmation of receipt via e-mail immediately. As the next step we check your documents and determine whether your skills match the position. If so, we will invite you to a telephone interview, video call, job interview or assessment center, depending on the department and position. In doing so, we also want to find out whether you and we match in person. Afterwards you will find out very quickly whether we can start working together.

  • What are “comprehensive job application documents”?

Any career at United Internet is meant to be a good relationship lasting for a long time – and this is why things should match professionally and personally. This is also why we would not only like to get to know the hard facts of your career so far. Via your application documents we would like to find out more about you: about your personality, your strengths and unique characteristics, what you are interested in – and also what attracts you to working for United Internet.

  • Cover letter

The cover letter is an important part of your job application. Here, we would like to know already: Why are you applying for this position? Why do we fit together? Our tip: Do not just recount your resume, but also illustrate your skills with concrete examples. You should also mention your possible starting date or your period of notice and, depending on the position, your salary expectations.

If no specific person is named in the advertisement, simply address your cover letter to "Dear Sir or Madam".

You can address the cover letter to: United Internet Corporate Services GmbH, Hinterm Hauptbahnhof 3-5, 76137 Karlsruhe

  • CV

Please inform us quite clearly, which professional stages you have experienced so far. We are interested in the precise dates and, please outline your data in reasonable blocks, e.g. education, academic career, professional experience. Structure your CV anti-chronologically: start with your current situation. Explain any gaps, such as application phases or stays abroad. Language, IT and programming skills are also relevant. We are particularly interested in your personality: Do you have exciting hobbies or do you do charitable work? Then please let us know about that.

  • Certificates

When it comes to certificates, we are particularly interested in all important and relevant certificates for your desired position: job references, school leaving certificates, training and academic certificates. Please only attach seminar certificates, diplomas, etc. if they are relevant in this context.

  • Formal considerations

The process might be slightly delayed if you apply to us by e-mail. Therefore, we prefer applications via our online form.

Please make sure over all, that the information you provide is correct, especially your e-mail address and telephone number.

During the application process, please also check your spam folder - in case e-mails from us end up in your spam.

And now we are looking forward to your interesting application.

  • Tips for the job interview

In the job interview, it is important for us to find out whether we are a good match for each other. That is why we only have one tip: Stay authentic – and just be yourself. Because that is exactly what you should and can be in your job afterwards.

  • Tips for virtual interviews

To make sure we understand each other well in any way, you should ensure a calm atmosphere. Avoid sources of acoustic disturbance and preferably mute your smartphone and telephone. If available, use a headset. If necessary, switch off your microphone when you are not speaking.

Make sure that the technology works before we start: Test your Wi-Fi, webcam, microphone and dial-up link. Dial in early enough so that the call can start on time. If your contact person is not yet present, please wait a moment.
